Top 10 uses of QR Code apart from payments

Ever since UPI came to India, the use of QR codes boomeranged. Its not uncommon to see 'Scan QR code' at your local store or a theatre or a supermarket.

But where else is QR code used apart from payments ?

Quite a few places literally. I did a quick search on QR code uses and here are top 10 uses of QR code apart from payments industry :

1. Download official application through QR code

QR codes can be scanned to directly download apps. These QR codes are displayed along with the ad in newspapers or pamphlets.

2. QR code on cover of a product

Know nutrition value /price / discount or other information of the product by scanning QR codes provided on back of product

3. Print a QR code on a greeting card to play a song

Having a QR code on the greeting card can enable us to play a song 9 (if we have a subscription to Spotify/Apple-Music etc.)

4. Scanning a QR code for enabling Wi-Fi

This can be used at public places/restaurants/airports/railway stations where we want to provide free wifi to tourists/passengers/customers

5. QR code on visiting cards/Resume

By scanning the QR code, the contact can be easily saved rather than typing .

6. QR code for events

Having QR code for events can enable people to get event details, register for any events. This can also direct a person to the social media page for the event to follow

7. QR code for menu in restaurants

QR code can be used for contactless dining in restaurants. By placing the QR code in every table, customers can scan the code which will show them the restaurant menu and they can order in a contactless manner and even pay contactlessly.

8. QR code in museums, stalls, exhibits

Scanning QR code on a particular artefact in a museum or a stall can give additional details such as the history, origins, age , and other details on the artefact

9. QR code for product reviews/feedback

QR code can be used at the back of every product to provide a simple product review/feedback. Even service request can be easily be done if the appliance has a problem, rather than going the IVR route which again is consuming.

10. QR code for tickets

These days QR code has been used in movie tickets, bus tickets and this ticket is scanned by the scanner at the counter to verify for a genuine ticket

11. QR code in bus stops

This can help get real time information on where the bus is as well as other details

12. QR code on recipe

This can help see a quick video of the same recipe in a channel.
